Before the Edinburgh City cup tie at big Hampden we played an amateur team from the Capital in the shape of South Edinburgh AFC who represented City at our Sixes.

This, of course, was the first game under new management and they got off to a wining start with a sparkling attacking performance.

Ross Dunbar was the central striker and he got our two goals in the first half, both from penalties and both after fouls on Darren who caused endless problems for Edinburgh down our right. His first goal was our 2800th all-time goal, in our 900th game.

Our visitors were unlucky with injuries during the game and one player limped off after just a few minutes whilst another ended up in the Viccy after the ball smashed him in the face.

Edinburgh did enjoy a ten/fifteen minute period of good possession in the second half but we sealed the win with a run and curling shot from Del near the end.

The team used the huge Lesser pitch superbly and we created plenty of chances which was great to see.

The squad was up to sixteen and the injured McNaught brothers were watching from the balcony, with drink in hand, along with Dave Stewart who must be about fifth choice as keeper nowadays !

A great start for the new Dick/Colquhoun partnership and clearly Andy’s tactics board did the trick!
